Started on the house build on the 1st of May, so I have spent the last week being very busy helping the builder and learning as I go. One he got all of the lines straight he cut the piles down to the right length. Next job was to cut the bearers which had to be fixed on to the piles.
In between these we had to put in melthoud which is like a tar paper that stops any moisture from coming up the piles into the house. Once they were together they had to be fixed using zed nails which are a nail in the shape of the letter z. On the main piles we put steel brackets to hold them to the bearers as well as bolts through, there is no way they are going to move in a hurry.
Once the bearers were in place the joists were put on top and fixed with more brackets. Next was the dwangs then the expole underfloor insulation (polystyrene). Then finally on the 6th we got to put the floor down. On the 7th we managed to got all of the walls up and braced before the rain came in.
9th we got the roof trusses up and have been hitting nails in ever since. We hope to get the roof covered on Friday after the council man has giving us the OK
