At 18 weeks old I was working in the shed when I heard a chicken being stired up by Gus so I quickly raised my voice as I yelled out Gus’s name I headed out of the shed to look up the hill in the direction that the noise had come from. As quick as I yelled the noise stopped so I headed up the hill expecting the worst. I looked everywhere but could not find any sign of the chicken. Gus was put in his kennel to give him time to think about what had happened.
The other three chickens had become a bit nervous when Gus was off and would retreat to their house. A couple of days later the chicken turned up looking like nothing had happened.
From now on, I was keeping a close eye on Gus when he was off but he seemed OK. Eleven days later I came walking around the back of the house and there was Gus holding a chicken down with his front legs and plucking the odd feather out. When I raised my voice he let the chicken go so I picked it up to discover that it was not hurt or even worried about what happened.
This chicken for some reason keeps on getting through the fence somewhere and likes spending the day around the house and has become very friendly and this episode had not bothered here at all.
Gus is now six months old and now knows how to act around the chickens and the chickens are no longer weary around him.
