George had contacted me though Facebook about a boar that his fathers had Boris. Boris was getting a bit big to handle, at about 250 pounds he was a big pig alright. George and his father turned up with Boris in a horse float. George also had his dog Scar that he wanted to put into the block for some training. Scar was a very big dog with a strong looking head on him. I was certain that we would need the muzzle on him as he could fit a whole pigs head in his mouth no trouble.
At our first bail we had two boars and a sow and I was very surprised at Scar as he was happy to stand back and bail and did not even look like going in to break the pigs. I was happy to take the muzzle off him and was pleasantly surprised at how well he worked. It just goes to show that you can not judge a dog by their looks alone.
To put Boris in the block the trailer was backed up to the fence and Boris was encouraged to walk down the ramp and jump the last bit. Once he was out he headed straight along the fence line that separated him from Mr Pig. I am pleased that these two could not get to each other as there would have been injuries for sure. While they were trying to fight though the fence we put Breeze and Scar in with Mr Pig and got to sit back and watch them have a nice bail for quite some time.
George txt me not to long after bringing Scar in for training and mentioned that in Scar’s next two hunts he found and bailed his own pigs.
