Both Craig and Richard are judges in our Ridgeline judging team so any chance for a catch up is always good if we can get the times right. Craig wanted to bring his young bitch Nemo up to get her onto some pigs at the bail. She has been to a couple of pigs but has still yet to show much sign of wanting to do to much. His other bitch Rise on the other hand was full on.
When we first went down to put these two bitch’s onto the pigs Fog once again did not want to work with bitch’s, this is the third time in a row that he has refused to do much while there is a bitch around. So with Fog swapped for Lightning we were back into it. Rice had a bad habit of going straight in on Mr Pig so he would have to keep on throwing her out. During the time that she was here she started to settle down quite a bit.
Nemo on the other hand took a lot to get her to want to join in. it was not until the next morning before Nemo started getting in and barking at a boar. By the time she left she was confident enough to get right in front of the boar and bail.
After the first run in the block we started using Richards dogs Keith is my dog Fog’s brother and is also a very good pig dog so he worked the pigs in the block the same as my dogs would have done, he stood back well and bailed nicely with out putting to much pressure on the bail. Cuz on the other hand is full of confidence and youth and was putting more pressure than he needed and making his job a bit more dangerous than it needed to be.
Both Craig and Richard had also brought their electric scales so that we could see if all of the scales weighed the same. we weighed a bag of dog biscuits and it came in at 44.8 pounds on all three scales. It is good to know that all of our Ridgeline team have digital scales that are reading all the exact weights.
