I had my son Sloan up for a hunt so I took Bro and Gus and put Muzzles on them both. Sloan had his old dog Mack and his 3 year old dog Bruce who’s a Kelpie. As we were walking up a wet waist high tussock gully I heard an animal breaking out of a gully to our right. Bro and Gus tracked off 350 meters to the top of the ridge then around the next gully. Once we reached the top of the ridge the two dogs were 200 meters below us heading left. Gus came off the scent after about 600 meters but Bro kept on tracking. We got to hear Bro trying to stop the pig in some tight scub but the boar broke out down to the creek where he bailed up. Bro put in a good solid solo bail until the other dogs arrived. Bruce just loves barking at pigs and put in a good bail. While Gus did bail well he came back to me just before we approached the action but joined in again quickly. We had not long arrived when Mack came running in looking for a fight which stired things up a bit making it hard for Sloan to get a shot while I was filming. In the end I was so close to the boar that I just put the gun to his head. Bro did get a small poke in the neck that did not require staples.
Sloan had an easy carry up to the 4wd track.
